Who We Are -
Principals

It has been said that nobody has a greater passion for the advertising business than Jerry Gibbons. Before joining the consulting world Jerry spent 13 years as Executive Vice President of the AAAA Western Region and the association's Agency Relations & Membership Division. In those roles he helped many agency entrepreneurs across the U.S. build their business.

Prior to the AAAA Jerry spent 30 years in the agency business in San Francisco. He started in the Mailroom at Young & Rubicam and has worked in almost every department in an agency - research, media, traffic, creative, account service and agency management. Jerry started two agencies, Pritikin & Gibbons and Gibbons & Dickens, and ran the San Francisco offices for both N.W. Ayer and Doyle Dane Bernbach. In addition he worked at McCann-Erickson, Dailey & Associates and Foote Cone & Belding. Everywhere Jerry worked he brought a new spirit and a drive to focus on growing the agency by building the clients' businesses with clear strategy and outstanding creative. Those clients include Microsoft, Nestle, Citibank, Memorex, Diamond Walnuts, China Airlines, Potlatch, Ralph's Supermarkets, Symantec, Fuller Paint Company and John Hancock Life Insurance. He also worked in media management and sales for three years.

Jerry has also been very involved in the industry and the community. He was Chairman of the Western Region Board of the AAAA and on the Association's National Board of Directors. He is past President of the San Francisco Advertising Club and The San Francisco Society of Communicating Arts. He is a former Board member of the Oakland Symphony, The National Association of Visually Handicapped, and the United States Organization of Disabled Athletes. Jerry has been active in various other advertising and non-profit groups such as The American Advertising Federation, San Francisco Child Abuse Council, the San Francisco Ballet and is Chair Emeritus of The Marine Mammal Center.

In 1984, Jerry was given the Professional Achievement Award for Journalism/Mass Communications by San Jose University. In 2003 he was given "The Wally" award for extraordinary service to the industry by the Bay Area Advertising Relief Committee and, in 2004, the Special Achievement / Original Advocate Award by New California Media. In 2005 AdMark, the San Francisco Bay Area's Advertising & Marketing Association, named him Advertising Person of the Year.

Jerry lives the urbane life in San Francisco with his wife Val. But in his heart he is a cowboy on a small ranch in Northern California.
